Syncopation Cloggers
Exhibition Clogging
The Syncopation Cloggers is a foot-stomping, heart-pounding, hand-clapping, toe-tapping clogging dance team
dedicated to promoting fun entertainment for the whole family. Clogging is considered one of the first Native
American folk dances, having migrated to the Appalachian region of the United States from our ancestors in
England, Germany and Ireland. While mostly a form of musical entertainment, clogging has even expanded in
the last decade into the category of physical exercise, as it is very aerobic in nature.
The Syncopation Cloggers have delighted audiences since 1987 with their high energy spin on the rich dance
tradition, which includes fast-paced music, traditional steps and patterns and a heavy-syncopated, uniform
style and colorful costumes. We’ve performed at national ethnic dance festivals, the 1982 World’s Fair in
Knoxville, rodeos and many local festivals. We also dance for a number of local benefits, including nursing
homes, fundraisers and church bazaars.
We offer lessons to adults over 18 every January for eight weeks. Partners are not required. We practice
at Glen Brook United Methodist Church, 8635 Glen Valley in Houston most Thursday nights from 7:30 pm to 9:45
pm. Please stop by to visit or contact Dena Thurman at 281-996-7817 to hold your spot for lessons or to
schedule a performance with the Syncopation Cloggers. You’ll love our energy and enthusiasm!
